Living A Purpose Driven Life: What Exactly Do You Carry As A Person

A couple of year's back I got frustrated with what life was sending in my direction and felt dis-empowered because I had no idea where I was in life as complexity of life overwhelms me. However, I hear people talk about living a purpose driven life and I was curious to find such life.

This brings me to the title of the topic I will be sharing today "How do you live a purpose driven life?" Thinking about the question itself, I took a deep breath because I did not know how to answer it initially. After catching my breath, I came up with another confrontational question that answers the first question. As the saying goes, "you do not answer with another question" nevertheless, it was the only way I could breakdown the process. The second question was "How do I find my purpose before living it?"

At this point, I started brainstorming with more questions but this time I felt it would be helpful to first clarify the difference between "purpose" and "goals" as it can often be confused with each other.

Purpose, defined as the highest level of goal in life that signifies one's existent and reason for being. In order words the master of all goals of life. No wonder we find that in life, the successful or the rich, (depending on how you do define riches and success) sometimes talk about being unhappy or suicidal. That also explains why you get fulfilled people who are not rich or successful per se but are happy and contended when they are living their purpose.

Goals on the other hand are the milestone and achievements that serves our purpose. For example, someone whose goal is to have a big five bedrooms house might have a purpose to foster children.

To identify our purpose or finding our purpose in life is complicated. In spite of that, every individual has the ability to make a difference in people's live hence living a purpose. It can be a complex journey; however, it is a necessary journey. Unfortunately, so many people do find they have embarked on a journey and would have climbed to the top of that mountain of purpose, only to find out it is not the right one for them.

Many have missed out of life fulfilment because they were not able to locate what their purpose was before their death. I once heard a saying that one of the most prosperous places on earth is the burial ground because it is full of people with unaccomplished purposes.

This tips and warnings can be use as a pointer for defining our purpose

Self- reflection

This is a major step to finding our purpose in life by taking an inventory of our life, analysing what are our strengths, and weaknesses are? We can find our purpose by maximising our strengths and improving our weaknesses. Becoming aware of the key factors to living a purpose driven life is a powerful start. Self-reflection will enable you to take a place where you stop looking outward for the answers but look inward into your core being or intuition, sometimes known as our gut feelings. We define intuition as the ability to knowing something without the use of reasoning; it is when you know something just because you know and not been able draw any reasoning nor logical explanation. For example, we sometimes have experiences where we feel strong about an issue or a situation that when we follow the direction of our feelings we get a favourable result, then again, we might get a feeling that our intuition is directing us to do something. However, we decide not to yield to it and it eventually it turns out to be the case.

Your purpose will drive you and compel you to dream, visualize, be fulfilled, have inner peace and joy.

2. Communication

Through communicating with trusted friends and family you can discover your purpose. Are there things people say about you that you do exceptionally well, or is there a talent that you recognised as having? Am sure we have all heard people say within the family or people we know, if you want a genius with caring gift in the family, then so and so is, the person or so and so person has a good heart and compassionate, always willing to go the extra mile. All these could be a pointer to where your passion lays hence your purpose.

3. Volunteering

Being a volunteer for an organisation of your choice can also be a tip for finding your purpose in life. It is also a good way to test our gut feelings and gifts. It is found that when people volunteer in their area of passion, they feel fulfilled, motivated and feel energise in that role more than they feel even in their full time work. They might actually feel a sense of achievement, value and contribution to other people's life. For example, I found this to be true in my voluntary work, am always looking forward to it and the sense of adding value to someone else's life is awesome.

4. Frustration

Frustration how can that be a pointer to one's purpose, it serves, as a prompter that something is not right hence the reason for the frustration. This could be an indication that you are gifted to do something about the situation you feeling frustrated about and only when you take up this role would you be living your purpose. These signals can also be evidence in a careersbusinesses where there is constant feeling tiredness and frustration with no logical reasons for fatigue, although not solely the factor but if you find that your energy been drained and you are feeling frustrated or having out of character behaviours like you are muddy at work and at home. Although it is not 100 percentages proven to be the only symptom but medically and psychologically proven that nine out of ten people feeling this way have an aspect of their life not right hence their purpose. It is more than likely that the person is in the wrong purpose or pursuing the wrong destiny. Therefore, they ought to be working on their exit strategy in that career or business to locate their purpose. This might take longer or short time depending on the actions you take and how determined you are to begin living a purpose driven life. If I can humble you, it is better to start taking little step than not taking any, and living in hope without action will only intensify your frustration. For example, I got frustrated with what life was dumping on me, having tried many careers and businesses and not fulfilled but frustrated because I knew am destiny to be making a difference in the community. I also felt am not to be operating in mediocrity and flowing with the masses but a unique being of excellent who is destiny to excel, so when that was not happening in my life. I knew something was missing that I had to find my purpose. Therefore, just over two years ago I embarked on a search to find out "Why" I am on the planet earth. I invested in personal development, and become a lover of personal development books, attended seminars and training developments, got myself a mentor, a coach and am still doing it, to get to where I am today, and my every day is opening up a new opportunity for me to excel and contribute to humanity.

Economy melt down

Often periods of instability forces individuals and organisations to reflect on themselves. As an organisation, question of would our purpose keep us in business or is there a way to redefine their purpose would arise, it is a catalyst for driving businesses back to the drawing board to determine whether the reason for existence could keep them on top of their market and meet customers needs.

For individuals, it is the fear of losing their jobs or thinking what if I do that drives people research the underlining skills and gifts, which then define the purpose. The thought of what can I do is the question in their mind that propels people to want to re-ignite their goals and skills hence discover their purpose. It is actually one of the few moments where fears can be turnaround into positive, because it forces people to either adjust or start preparing themselves for a plan B.

For example, in my case, I lost my job again, and this brought me to the realisation that I needed to look inwardly rather than looking outwardly for my solution and getting disappointments and being frustrated. I asked myself the ultimate questions, what are my strengths, talents, gifts that can ensure I am living in my purpose, what can I do, and whose help do I need? Above all, taking action was paramount to living my purpose. I got myself a life coach, mentors, invested in books and other learning medium and material to re-orient my thinking and overcome self-limiting believes. My discovery was phenomenal and life transforming. Awareness and knowledge without action will only ends in frustration.

What are the barriers or limiting factors to living a purpose driven life?

If I should ask a couple of people, what do you think are the barriers/limiting factors? I will probably get answers such as lack of time or I do not have the money to start the dream/purpose I have in mind. If I can humble you, both answers are neither the real limiting factor nor the barrier, but mostly what really limit people are their own fears and doubts.

How do these Fears and Doubts overwhelm us?

They are develop through our experiences or happen in our lives, it can be imparted through other people in our lives, such as parents, teachers, peer groups, siblings and so on. To give an illustration, a child who is 7 years old is told by his teacher, that he/she cannot amount to anything good in life, a statement like that has destroyed the child's destiny of become an achiever, if care is not been taking by the parent or the influences in that child's life to correct the damaging words. That could become that child's believe of his/her self for life. Therefore, a limiting force is been created in the life of the child. Unfortunately, every time such person wants to do anything that could amount to some good, the statement, which is been planted and ingrained in the sub-conscious, will stop the person from achieving. Hence going back to our point on fears and doubt, such person oblivious to how the damage is form, would continue to go round in circles and not find their purpose, because each time they have the intuition I talked about earlier. The gut feeling, the voice of fears and doubt raises it's head in the form of reasons and excuses we give for not accomplishing a goal or dream. Such as procrastination, such as I will get round to it one day, I do not have time, I do not have the money or it is not a good time with such economy to embark on a new project. The question is when will it be a good time? Now is the good time to take steps towards living your purpose. In terms of not having the time unfortunately, we can only spend time we cannot buy time back, so we create time. Then again, if you really think about it, we can always find time for what we really want and value.

Money most people say, if only I had enough money I know that is the reason am not living my purpose, I will get round to it someday. If I were to ask the question, how much do you think you would need to embark on the project? You are more than likely to hear something like I do not know but I guess it is a lot of money. You can see no thought has gone into the project to research it to know the exact amount in question. Any project aligning you to your purpose only requires taking little steps of faith to start in your capacity and as it unfolds, you will find resources to support the project.

In closure, I hope we are now more able to find some prompters to finding our purpose. Also conscious of what can limit us from living a purpose driven life. Now, how do I start embarking on this journey?

There are seven keys to help us start on a journey of finding our purpose.

Taking Action- The power in everything that we have been saying so far is in taking action. Without action every awareness and acknowledge leads you nowhere but wallowing in self-pity and no progress. For example, in my life I had played so many self-pity tunes, that no one is listening to the tunes anymore and even I myself detest the tunes and its sound and now the only tunes I play are those that motivate and drives me into my purpose.

Believe in yourself - There is a saying from Henry Ford that if you think you can, then you can, then again if you think you cannot then you cannot. Unfortunately, if you cannot believe in yourself and your ability then you should not expect others to believe in you. Your attitude determines your altitude. There is power in having faith and stretching ourselves because it connects us divinely with our desired purpose and propel us to our breakthroughs hence living a purpose driven life.

Support What plan do you need to put in place to start living your purpose and who, what do you need to help you and how? Such as personal development, re-training, support of a coach, mentors, networking, social media and so on.

Get a Mentor- A mentor is someone who inspires you, they have achieved success you dream of, someone who have been through the roller coaster of the area of purpose you want to accomplish, who can give you tips and "know how", challenge you, stretch you as a role model. It can be difficult at the begin to get the person you choose as role model on a close contact communication, such as speaking to them or getting appointment with them. However that should not stop you, you can always get their materials such as books, CD, magazines or their newsletter that will always speak their passion, mission and values. In my case I started to follow the works of people like Joyce Meyer, Meicer Weider, Les Brown, Jim Rohn, Dayo Olomu these are people renowned within the coaching and public speaking industries, which I believe is my dream for living my purpose in life.

Volunteering/Training into a career/business- Volunteering in an area of your passion is a key to start your purpose driven life by serving in this respect, you get to test the waters before you dive whether it is for you or not. Training into a career/business is another way to start a purpose driven life, starting at the bottom and working your way to the top where you want to live your purpose.

Never afraid and Learn to take risk - Being afraid or feeling fears is a perceived conception and it can only grow when we continue to nurture it instead of getting rid of it. There is an Acronym for FEAR (False, Evidence, Appearing, and Real). Most of the times when we actually take steps to do what we perceive as fearful, we will find it's not as bad or difficult as we perceive it; one-person fears might be a walk over for someone else. Therefore, we have to come to an understanding that fears are no longer valid when we take action, for we always conquer fears by action. Therefore, as you take the necessary steps of actions in your fears and doubts, you are taking risk, hence the fears and doubts loses its gripe and no longer is it fears but a channel for opportunity.

Learning should never stop - Individuals, who limit their learning capacity, limit their full potential. You may feel passionate about one thing early on in life and later in life, you could be passionate about something else because you have unfolded new discoveries about yourself as passion grows and we evolve in our vision, then we acquire new knowledge and skills, therefore learning are an ongoing process. Fulfilling our purpose is in stages that unfolded as we pursue it.

The value of knowing and living a purpose ensures a rock-solid foundation upon which you can build your life. As we saw earlier, lack of certainty keeps most of us from investing heavily in any particular direction. Therefore, when you have certainty - you can use it powerfully to thrust your life along its chosen path.

When you have your life purpose, you will begin to see meaning and structure in the events of your life. You can use your purpose as a yardstick to measure your current situation and any plans you may already have. In addition, of course, you can use it to make new plans - and these plans are back with your newfound certainty. You will implement those plans powerfully - and you will enjoy the process.

4 Ways to Start Living a Purpose Driven Life

We have all been put on this earth for a reason. Sometimes we know what that reason is off the bat and sometimes we have to find it while finding ourselves. Once we find out what our purpose is, it inspires, motivates, and that same purpose drives our life.

This is a very liberating moment in our lives because once we find out what drives and motivate us we are free to point the energy to any vocation that we see fit.

So how do you start living a purpose driven life?

Here are 4 ways to do just that and like anything else it takes a mind set of want to, to gain that success that you need to have a purpose driven life.

1. Be clear on what comes naturally to you and use that. Taking these natural abilities can help you to have a strong purpose in life and have a purpose driven life through natural motivation that comes with natural talent.

2. Take a few minutes and write a clear statement making the statement of who you are and what you are meant to do here. This brings your purpose to the forefront and allows you to physically see what it is you think you should be doing. It also gives you a physical visual object to look at for motivation to gain another step into a purpose driven life.

3. Apply the creative process to your everyday life. Why the creative process? It is because it allows you to grow within your purpose and to make it a strong driving force in your life through your journey to success.

4. Don't allow yourself to stop driving towards your purpose in life. When you feel yourself loose motivation or something comes along within your life that starts to veer yourself away from your purpose, take the time to stop take a breath and regain what you need to still have that purpose driven force.

When you have your life purpose, you begin to see meaning and self worth in your life. You can use your purpose to help others and be successful. Through the journey it can be a very enjoying process if you have your purpose driving your life. So remember natural motivation, creative process, happiness, and success is all equal to a purpose driven life. There is no greater joy finding your doing in your heart what you're suppose to do

The Way Towards Finding Your Purpose

Have you ever asked yourself what your true purpose in life is? Or do you believe in the purpose of your life in the first place? While some live a rather happy-go-lucky carefree life, there are also some who have been wondering and wandering to find the real reason of their existence. For them, it would seem like there is no meaning to their existence. They would like to find the very reason why they are here in the first place. And if you are one of the people who is set to finding your purpose in life, then you pretty much stumbled onto an enlightening article.

Finding your purpose is not as easy as it sounds. It cannot just be solved by a mathematical equation, or ruled by a scientific explanation. It is a search within your own self. It is enigmatic. It is mysterious. Most of all, it will require understanding and acceptance. It is not going to be an easy task. It is going to be something that you need patience to get.

So what do you do to find your purpose in life? While there are many ways to discover it, there are some things you must remember if you are committed to this search. The biggest thing to arm yourself with is belief. You have to believe that you will be able to find your purpose. You have to have faith.

This is what you got to do. Get a blank sheet of paper and write on top of it the question "What is my true purpose in life?" Answer the question with as many things as you can until you get an answer that makes you cry. That is your purpose in life. It may seem like it is not what you are actually expecting but if you do think about it deeply, you would be able to sense what it all means.

Others might think of it as stupid, while some will think that it makes complete sense. You just have to believe that when one thing strikes you so much you do not know when it hit you, then you just got to accept it.

At one point of this exercise you will find yourself writing the same thing all over again. At another, you might feel the urge to push them all away especially when it gets too overwhelming. Just keep in mind that this is a normal reaction. Just get past through continue writing.

If you acknowledge that you feel you do not have a purpose, that is also good. Eventually your belief will turn tables. And when you complete this exercise, you will feel the answer resounding within you.

Finding your purpose is a very meaningful journey; one that will answer your questions, one that will give you peace of mind, and that will help you find yourself. If you ask people why this process works, you are likely to get different answers. But they do have one thing in common: it is a very enriching personal experience.

Finding Your Purpose in Everyday Life

Failing to identify your purpose is like been on a ship without anyone steering it to the chosen destination. It will end up anywhere.

The key to finding your purpose in life is to follow your heart and do what you really LOVE to do! That's it!! When you wake up to this truth, you will find everything changes because you're doing what you were put here for in the first place.

How?

By looking within. Some of you will already know what your passion is, but will find it difficult to step out the box. But its time to listen to that inner voice. At this point it will be time to put your negative thoughts about yourself aside and start entertaining a positive outlook on knowing that finding your purpose means it can be achieved.

Don't live someone else's dream. When you have figured out what your purpose is you must NOT let anyone 'steal' it by their opinions, too often people are more concerned with what others might think Instead of doing what they want. I used to be so conscious about what others would be thinking of me, the actions I took and the things I would say. So as a result I would not be living as the real me!

Finding your purpose will lead you to have a vision. Your vision is the route you take in steps to complete you purpose. Your vision will lead to the end goal. In order to reach your goal you must set short-term goals in order to keep you on track

"Where There is no Vision The People Perish." ~ Bible

You may feel like you cannot earn money doing what you love to do. There's no need to just give everything up that would be silly (unless you can afford to do this) but there is always downsizing. Work a part-time job so you are earning enough to live off while you have the time to pursue you life's purpose.

Be ambitious and don't give up.

Finding your purpose can change your life overnight if you would just be committed in taking the first step - making a decision to follow your dreams!

"What a different story people would have to tell if they would adopt a definite purpose and stand by that purpose until it had time to become an all-consuming purpose." Napoleon Hill ~ Laws of Success

Lacking Purpose in Life - How to Find Your Purpose

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God has a plan for your life, plans to prosper you in whatever He has called you to do with your life. I believe that it wasn't a mistake that God said that He would give you hope because He knows that a person who just goes through life with no purpose for their life will lose hope; they will not see any reason for living. I believe God put that in the scripture to let you know to not give up hope for your life because He has called you to do something great with your life.

How to Discover Your Purpose?

1. Do what you love. What would you do for free if money wasn't an object? Whatever your answer is to this question you want to get started doing that thing. Before I realized that my calling was to help women, I used to always give advice to as many people as I could because I am so passionate about seeing a person's life change for the better. You have to figure out what it is that you can do for the rest of your life and get started doing that thing.

2. Seek out your purpose. In Matthew 7:7 it says that if you "seek you shall find; knock and the door will be opened to you". I'm a living witness to whatever you seek you will find. I did not know how I was going to help women or how I was going to start my own business but I figured it out. Every time that I seek out how to do something God places the answer right there in front of me to find it. If you continue to allow yourself to just sit and wait for your purpose to find you then you will be waiting for a very long time. You have to get up and seek out your purpose. As you take one step, God will take two. Before you even know it, God will start to open doors of opportunity for you. He will place the right people on your path to help you get to where you are going. But He can only do those things in your life if you get started now seeking your purpose.

3. Ask the creator. I can sit here and give you twenty tips on how to find your purpose but the truth of the matter is that I'm not the one who created you, God is. He created you for a reason, so you have to go back to your Creator and ask Him what the purpose for your life is. God is the only person who knows that because He was the one who created you for a specific purpose.

I believe that God has called each and every one of us for a specific purpose for our life. I believe in our purpose we are to do one thing, give God glory by living out our God-given purpose He has called us to do.

A Better Life With Positive Thoughts

Positivity in our ways of living -

In the midst of difficult circumstances when there is hopelessness all around, a single ray of hope can do wonders. It is only experienced by those who believe in its powers. Affirmative thoughts has a tremendous lot of energy associated with it that can sweep away all its negative counterparts. Still, it feels difficult to a bigger populace to attain positive ways of living. Several factors are responsible for this air of negatives or at most, least positives. Under the effects of these powerful & driving factors, people are rendered helpless & therefore, choose to live as a victim. However, it is equally easier to lead a life filled with enthusiasm if fundamentals are taken into account.

Considering the hardships that one faces in his life, circumstances & time seems to be the driving parameters. They thus, form the reason of his sufferings whenever he discuss or share his life with someone. But, if you search deeper seeking fundamentals with a tilt of perspective, the reasons change. It will be found that you have suffered because you were conquered by the consequences posed to you. And you hadn't done your part in making things better. Things would have turned in a way you want them to be if you had stuck to some values & beliefs of affirmative principles. And, you are living in some condition in the present because you didn't possess positive attributes in your temperament at the time of sufferings. Thus, positivity can have the ability to cause wonders to happen if you believe that it will. If you give your energy of thoughts to adhere to such beliefs aligned to your particular life. Miracles will happen & you will experience them in your life if you have the roots of your belief system nourished with supportive values. No hardships would then disturb you, but look as if they are the doors of transformation of your life that only demands a little extra effort from your side to check if you deserve the rewards that are there for you.

Similarly, your achievements can be nourished with optimistic beliefs. If you desire for something to exist in your life for which you can use your strength & abilities to the fullest, think about it positively. Don't get carried away with obstacles. Repeat inspiring statements to provoke yourself & don't get suppressed by the opposition you receive.

So, be positive & lead your life as a conqueror & not as a victim.

Participating in Your Own Success

Sounds silly, doesn't it, the idea of 'choosing to participate in your own success'? Yet not doing so is the stumbling block that prevents many people from reaching goals or achieving much more than they could see themselves reaching! We have to not only get out of our own way but take steps to promote the things we love to say are important to us. Not actively participating is exactly what the old adage of 'shooting yourself in the foot before a footrace' is about. It is also the birthplace of the losers limps that we carry about to explain why something didn't work out, why we couldn't cross the goal line.

How do we exist in this kind of confused messaging? Things like saying we want to be promoted to a higher position while failing to take any steps to acquire the training or education that would allow us to advance, or being in an entry-level position while decrying the fact that we can't move up even while being frequently late or on the absence roll call. It's choosing to do only what we must do rather than searching for something we can do that reflects the abilities we wish we could promote.

Why in the world would we do such a thing? Because it is easier and feels better than actually having the opportunity to become what we tell others we want become or achieve and then failing at it. Complaining is much easier than explaining. When we reach for a brass ring, grasp it and then drop it things get complicated. Fear of failure or the personal belief that we really could never achieve a dream is the offender in this crime. It is also the father of that 'losers limp' we drag around; the 'I could have if only... '

When we choose not to participate in our own success we voluntarily accept the role of being a victim; one who is helpless to overcome or escape from something in our lives. Many secretly believe this posture causes others around them to believe they are really trying but just can't get a break. The things they believe are out of reach are always someone else's fault.

When you choose to participate in your own success you act on it, not like it, literally; there is a big difference. One reflects movement towards something while the other is role-playing to make it appear that you are. You are far more powerful if you choose to be the very best at something you are comfortable with rather than portraying someone who desperately wishes they could be something else but can't.

Finding the position where you shine and taking pride in that job, regardless of how high it may be on the personnel chart, empowers you in every way. Be proud of who you are and what you personally aspire to become.

Persisting Through Resistance

The story of Nelson Mandela's fight for freedom is a great example of the quality of persistence. Born on the 18 July 1918 in Mvezo, a small village in South Africa to Nonqaphi Noskeni and Nkosi Mandela, he was originally named Rolihlahla Mandela.

Nelson Mandela took keen interest in the apartheid rule dominant in South Africa upon hearing his elders recount stories of his ancestors' bravery during the wars of resistance. He was determined to contribute to the liberation of his people. The years that followed saw him sacrifice more than twenty-seven years, fighting relentlessly for racial equality in South Africa. Although the journey was full of bumps - betrayals, defeat, trials and even convictions, his efforts finally paid off, as generations to come will still feel the impact of his legacy.

Now, while striving towards building a global business, a career or fighting a cause, throughout your journey there will be resistance, sometimes from external sources and at other times from internal sources. This could appear in form of fear, defeat or low self-esteem. How do you persist through them? Here are three suggestions to guide you.

Set your eyes on the prize

The prize is synonymous with the motivations for your aspirations. Simply put, what do you stand to gain after you have attained that goal? All Nelson Mandela wanted was for racial discrimination to end in South Africa. This quote from his Dock speech at the Rivonia trial of 1964 provides insight into his motivation.

"I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and equal opportunities. It's an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it's an ideal for which I am prepared to die."

Setting your eyes on the prize helps you to endure and also propels you to go the extra mile in your endeavors.

Learn from your mistakes

You will make a lot of mistakes along the way, but a mindset that failure is part of the process will help you move forward. Hence, focus more on learning from them and moving on quickly, and remaining resolute. The Harvard Business Review recommends that business leaders should study causes when analysing a failure event. They should create an environment that counteracts the blame game and encourages employees to feel more comfortable with learning from their failures. The result of this, in the long term, is strong controls and secured processes.

Shut out Negativity

Psychologists agree that people are likely to remember unpleasant memories than they will pleasant ones. It is OK to agree that you are not getting your expected results if that's your reality. You can always review your methods and devise new strategies to meet your goals. Look out for constructive criticisms and try to resist the urge to dwell on the negativities.

Your focus should be on the goal at all times. Whenever you are stuck, remember the popular Nelson Mandela quote: "It always seems impossible until it's done."

How to Maintain a Positive Attitude To Be Happier

1. Have a Daily Routine. The way you start your day matters a lot. Ensure that you have a daily routine that puts you in a good mood so you can start your day off right.

2. Carry an Attitude of Happiness With You. Instead of waiting for external things that make you happy, be happy and then see how that affects things that happen around you. That is, instead of telling yourself that the first good something has to happen, and then you will be happy, be happy first. It will make you develop a positive attitude.

3. Smiling Give You The Power Of Positive Thoughts. Try to smile for a minute while you think about a happy memory or the last thing that made you smile. The body releases endorphins and serotonin, also known as the healthy hormones when you smile. It is much easier to feel the life when chemicals that are released by your body are conducive to you well-being.

4. Think positively. Read books with positive thoughts, listen to music with uplifting lyrics, and watch movies where that will make you have positive thoughts. You can change your negative attitude by uploading as much positivity in your brain as you possibly can.

5. Take Responsibility. At any time, your positive attitude can be a victim or a creator. The first step you should take is to take responsibility.

6. Be proactive. An active person develops to recognize social skills because he or she allows external events or others to influence how they feel. An active person decides how they will feel no matter what they may be passing through. Be proactive by choosing your attitude and managing it throughout the day.

7. Change your Thoughts. When you change your thoughts, you will develop a more positive while negative attitude leads to negative thoughts. Changing your attitude is easy on what you are thinking and choosing to think differently.

8. Have a Purpose. Create purpose in life gives you a positive thought, so you can stand firm in the midst of the vicissitudes and challenges of life. It brings purpose and meaning to your life, if you know your purpose, it will go a long way in your nice personality development.

9. Concentrate on the Good Things. To have a positive attitude, concentrate on the good. Concentrate on the good in yourself, the good in others, and the good in your life.

10. Stop Thinking that Life is Easy. The truth is that life is not easy sometimes. It may even be painful. But if you develop positive thought you can take it. We know that sometimes things will not be easy, and thoughts toward good things that would make you adapt to it and believe that thing will be better

7 Steps Towards a Positive State of Mind

Most of us have heard the saying: The optimist sees the glass half full, while the pessimist sees it half-empty. In its simplest terms, positive thinking is optimism and negative thinking is pessimism. It is an attitude towards life, yourself and particular predicaments and events in life.

Positive thinkers quickly zone in on the positive side of even the darkest moments in their lives, and often see those predicaments as opportunities for growth and learning. Positive thinkers are resilient and able to deal with stressful situations in productive ways.

"Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine."- Anthony J. D'Angelo

Becoming a positive thinker is not necessarily something that will happen overnight. Depending on the severity of the negativity, it can take time to make appropriate changes.

The practice of positive thinking, and making it a character trait rather than a one-time thing, takes effort, patience, and time. If optimism is not natural to you, there are ways to turn it around.

Work towards combating the negativity you identified and maintaining an optimistic nature and use these steps as tools in the process.

7 Steps To A Positive Attitude

1. Say something positive whenever you think something negative. The tricky part about this is catching each negative thought as is happens. As much as possible, stop the negative thought as it happens and say something constructive to yourself, such as "today is going to be great."

Positive affirmations can be recited daily to reprogram the mind of negative thinking. There is a positive opposite for virtually everything negative...

"The weather is too hot." versus "The sun feels good on my skin."

"People at work are annoying." versus "It's great to a have a team to help with the workload."

"I look fat in that dress." versus "I look awesome in that dress."

"I screwed up again." versus "I made a mistake that I will learn from."

"I should be graduating at the top of my class." versus "I am so proud that I am graduating."

"All this snow is a hassle; it makes life harder and creates more work." versus "The snow left my backyard looking like a scene from a postcard."

"My husband cooked dinner for me, but it was only pasta." versus "I so appreciate my husband cooking dinner for me."

"I worked hard all day but did not get nearly enough done." versus "Wow, what a productive day I had at work."

2. Laugh often. Negative thinkers tend to be very uptight, and it's no wonder considering the heavy burden they often carry and the lack of positivity in their life. Allow yourself to laugh and often. Seek out scenarios where you laugh, like hanging out with funny people or visiting comedy clubs. Learn to see the humor in life, even during painful times. Laughter reduces stress, stops you from taking everything too seriously, and yields a more optimistic outlook.

3. Surround yourself with positive people. Negativity breeds more negativity. A positive attitude is contagious, and the best way to adopt such a thought process is to learn first-hand from a master. Having positive people in your life will allow you to view first-hand what it looks like, and positive people will give you uplifting advice, feed a positive outlook and problem solving suggestions, as opposed to negative people who will only want to sink in the muck with you and feed your negativity.

4. View every experience as a learning opportunity. Consider this scenario. A positive thinker finds out that their significant other has cheated. They break off the relationship, evaluate what went wrong, and attempt to learn from the situation, viewing it as a growing experience and a stepping-stone to a brighter future with someone else. Their process is a positive one that will include pain, and anger, but the way the positive thinker deals with it is constructive. The optimist knows that not everyone is a liar or a cheater, and that they can and will meet someone honest.

A negative thinker founds out that their significant other has been unfaithful and thinks thoughts like, "all men/women are liars and cheats;" I hate them all." They will dwell in the misery, and pain, and not view the experience as a learning process. They may become consumed by anger and hatred and generalize the entire opposite sex as evil, and eventually they may fall into a state of depression and experience anxiety and other ill health effects. Their next relationship may inevitably suffer, as their general distrust of the opposite sex will surely affect intimacy.

The positive thinker's resiliency and attitude allows them to grow through the painful experience, come out better for it on the other side, and avoid possible health manifestations that can result from negativity and its stress.

The negative thinker's own attitude will result in them missing an opportunity to grow, and the stress that attitude puts on their emotional and mental health will only harm them in the long run.

5. Adopt practices such as yoga, meditation, aromatherapy, tai chi and deep relaxation. These practices help you to focus your mind, build self-awareness, and obtain a deep peace. They also help you to maintain awareness about your thoughts and feelings, which helps you to control them so that you can build more positive energy in your mind and body.

6. Use positive affirmations. Our own inner dialogue determines our emotions, this means that we must be deliberate and conscious about what we say to ourselves. Speak positive affirmations to yourself every day, as they can help re-program your mind towards the positive mode and control your inner dialog.

Our mind is a garden and our attitudes are the seeds of its life, so plant healthy and weed regularly! Always repeat positive affirmations phrased in the present and personal tense, for example:

"I like myself!"

"I love today!"

"I love my life!"

"I see the positive in everything!"

"I can deal with anything!"

"I am strong!"

"I am optimistic!"

"I enjoy being around positive people!"

"I am aware of my thoughts"

And my favourite of all - "You are stronger than you seem, braver than you believe and far more capable than you think you are."

7. Practice Gratitude. There are multiple methods to transform your negative feelings. One of the fastest and highly effective ways is to harvest feelings of thankfulness and appreciation directed towards:

• Yourself

• Other people in your life

• Material things

• Your life circumstances

• And even strangers

Practice starting your day by focusing on being grateful, and bring to mind several specific things. This will help you move your mind towards positive thinking and positive energy vibrations.

There is nothing stopping you from achieving a more positive state of mind other than yourself. Start by acknowledging your negative thoughts, determining their source, and then transforming them into positivity.

Build Your Life On Purpose

I read a story, years ago, about a man who seemingly had it all. He was successful, influential, wealthy, and admired by many. It shocked me greatly to hear that he tried to end his life early, until I discovered the reason he had decided to do so!

For many years he had lived his life to please his parents, teachers, co-workers, associates, clients, etc. He had an image of what he thought was the ultimate status in life; he followed that picture fully! Though a gnawing sense of emptiness had plagued his heart, for years, he had submerged it under his vision to become a success in the eyes of others!

Never wait till emptiness consumes you to ask yourself the question, is my life on track with my true purpose? There is one human we must satisfy with our life's direction, that is us! Success is relative to our pursuit of purpose!

I have a number of mentors who have encouraged me greatly over the years. The one common denominator that consistently stirs me forward is their passionate pursuit of purpose. Nothing else in life can satisfy the longing for destiny in the human heart!

A life that is built on purpose is dramatically different, in the end, than one propped up by a desire to please others. The book of Proverbs describes a desire to please others as a dangerous trap (Proverbs 29:25). It then declares that those who put their trust in God will be safe! The only way to live a satisfying and successful life is to fully trust in God for direction (Proverbs 3:5-6). Relying on our limited understanding may lead us astray!

4 foundations to build your life on purpose

A life of purpose will come to those who intentionally pursue it. By building on the following foundations we ensure a satisfying and successful life, right to the very end!

1. Discover your true purpose

There are two distinctive aspects about true purpose that make it unique. First, it can only be discovered from within; this is due to the second aspect. Second, it was programed and placed within us by our creator!

To discover the inner triggers to our purpose we must ask the following questions: What makes me sad? What makes me mad? What makes me glad? What would I love to work at for free? What tasks do I find easy to accomplish? What thoughts inspire energy and passion in me? What dreams inspired me as a child? What do I daydream about? Is there a hobby that I feel especially drawn to? What thoughts consistently reoccur during my personal prayer and devotional times? Etc...

By asking questions, like these, we begin to get a picture of our ultimate purpose. The more specific the questions, the clearer the picture becomes! Note, this process must not be glossed over or rushed, and it must certainly not be persuaded by a desire to please others! The pursuit of anything other than our true purpose will result in regret.

2. Make an action plan

The next foundation is to begin actively pursuing our purpose by implementing a simple, daily action plan. Begin with the following question: How can I start today? Make a list of ten things you could do right now to begin the process even if they are just small steps (gaining new information, asking questions of others, visit a specific company, or read a book on a specific topic). As we begin on the right path, other action steps will emerge! Document these and plan to do them! Don't allow procrastination to hinder your journey.

3. Pursue mentors

We follow those who are going where we want to go ourselves! It may not necessarily be a similar vocation but it is essential that they are purpose driven! If we follow people who are inspired by their life's passion and purpose, it will soon be apparent to us, and them, if we become motivated by something other than our true purpose!

4. Remember the one who gave you the purpose

A life inspired by God shall remain on course with the purpose that was deposited within! That is why it is necessary for all of us to discover and pursue a real, living relationship with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ! Only He has the instructions to complete the journey! Develop a consistent, daily schedule of prayer and bible reading to refresh your perspective! His instructions will involve us in something that is bigger than ourselves, leading to significance, success and joy!

Discovering and pursuing a life on purpose is a choice that will protect us from regrets later on. We truly can be inspired towards a significant destiny!

My hope for you is that you fulfill your life's purpose!

Make This New Year Different, Don't Make A Resolution

Here we are in the first week of a brand new year. For most people it's typically a good week. You still feel the turkey and ham hangover from the holidays. You're enjoying the new toys you and your children received as gifts.

You're also basking in the glow of new opportunity. You say to yourself, "This year will be different!" You make a resolution. You'll finally get the new job you want. You'll move to a new home. You'll get organized. You'll take that long awaited vacation. You'll lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.

Whatever it is, this is the year!

And, then by the end of the month, you'll begin to look at yourself in the mirror and the negativity will begin to creep in. After you send your resume out to dozens of places, with no response or acknowledgement, you begin to feel less hopeful about finding that new job. You walk around your house and it's a mess. Although it would be great to move and get more space, or even downsize, you don't have the energy to take care of the clutter.

Forget about the vacation! Who in the world has time?

As for the weight... well, the new pant size fits just fine.

And, slowly, what you wanted at the beginning of the year dissolves into nothing more than a memory.

It doesn't have to be this way, you know. You can, in fact, do it.

The reality is that what you want is attainable, and you do have the power to do it.

So, instead of beginning the year with a resolution that you may or may not achieve, why not make a commitment to yourself? Commit to one thing-anything-that's really important to you. It doesn't matter how big or how small it is. Just commit now to one thing that you'll accomplish this year.
Now that you have it in mind, I'm going to tell you the secret of how to get from point A to point Z. For the next 365 days, you will do something each and every day toward that goal. It doesn't matter what it is, you will take one step (that's all it takes) toward what you want in your life. It doesn't have to be a huge step. All it needs to be is a single step.

Why?

Because I can guarantee if you do one thing toward what you want-your commitment to yourself-each day you'll develop a habit. In other words, consistency becomes habitual. With consistency, eventually you'll begin to see small changes and things happening toward your goal. What you want to do is to take it in small bites. You want to set a pattern of consistent habits.

If you do this every day, you'll see the change.

Practice makes perfect. It's as simple as that.

So, let's talk for a moment in more practical terms. Let's say you're looking for a new job. What I'm asking you to do each day is something small toward your goal. That means that you review and update your resume and develop a powerful cover letter, which you will customize depending on the opportunity. The next day create a list of 5 places or opportunities. Then, each subsequent day, research a company on the list and see if you have a contact or someone who can introduce you. If not, send your great resume and customized cover letter. The following week, look into networking opportunities and schedule those meetings and appointments. Finally, repeat, repeat and repeat until you succeed.

Whatever your commitment is for the year, you can do it. YOU have the power to succeed. All it takes is building the habits for success toward your goal each and every day.

Yes, it's that simple.

Is This Really Your Life Purpose?

Image result for is this really your purpose
Do you know what your life purpose is? It seems most of us do not and that worries some of us. Yet there are some people who feel that they have found their life purpose.

Do you know, though, 80 percent of the people who have shared with me their life purpose, have all said the same thing. They have each identified the same 'purpose' for their life. Why is this?

It makes you wonder whether we could all share the same life purpose. Is life purpose the same for all of us or almost all of us? Or could it be that these people are simply mistaken and have not yet really realized their true purpose?

Do you know that, of all the people who have told me their life purpose, not one person said their life purpose was:

o To make money;

o To work hard for their company;

o To spend time in the office;

o To be more organized;

o To watch television;

o To buy the latest car, computer, fashions, gadgets or whatever.

Yet, these are often the things you may find yourself spending your time on.

True. This may simply be a reflection of the type of people I spend my time with. Perhaps these people are not motivated by money, hard work, television, gadgets, etc.. Yet these people seemed to come from different backgrounds or 'walks of life' and still seemed to identify the same purpose for their life.

So we are still faced with the same dilemma. Could we all have the same life purpose or had these people not identified their life purpose accurately?

Up to this point, I have not revealed what it was that these people each said was their life purpose. Before I do, perhaps we should consider the need for accuracy. Is it really necessary to be accurate in defining your life purpose? Just how precise do you need to be? Obviously you need to have a purpose that is relevant to your life rather than one that is relevant to someone else's life. Yet, apart from making sure it is relevant to you, how precise do you have to be?

I'm sure that some of you will say that if your life purpose is 'flexible' then it will allow you to fit your purpose into different stages of your life and into different circumstances. After all, our lives and our circumstances do not always remain the same, so to be able to adapt our life purpose to fit changing circumstances would be advantageous.

If, however, our life purpose is so flexible, is it really our 'purpose'? Should our true purpose not be more constant throughout our life and should we not bring changes into our life that fit our 'purpose'? Or would doing this make our lives to 'rigid'?

So what is it that most people have said to be their life purpose? At this point, I can reveal that most people have revealed to me that their life purpose is; ...

... 'To help other people.'

I reveal this at the end of this article as I guess many of you may feel that this is your life purpose too. If so, then I repeat to you the question in the title, is this really your life purpose? Or do you need to define it further?
